President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday night held a closed-door meeting with a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo, Teslim Folarin, at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Folarin, who was the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State during the 2023 general election, confirmed the development in a post shared on his official social media platforms.

The meeting comes amid growing political maneuvering and speculations over the party’s direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo.
Reports have also linked another APC stalwart, Sharafadeen Alli, to the race, with indications that he is being considered as a potential governorship candidate. Alli had similarly met with the President in recent days.
Although details of the Thursday meeting were not disclosed, party insiders suggest the engagements may be part of broader consultations within the APC as it strategises for future elections in the state.
Folarin remains a significant figure in Oyo APC politics, having previously represented Oyo Central Senatorial District and flown the party’s flag in the 2023 governorship contest.
