What to Know

  • President Donald Trump will deliver his State of the Union address tonight from the U.S. Capitol at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, during which he is expected to focus on the economy and affordability.
  • Delivering the Democratic response to the president’s address will be Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, speaking live from Colonial Williamsburg, and Sen. Alex Padilla of California will deliver the Spanish-language Democratic response.
  • Among the White House’s guests will be Erika Kirk, widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
  • The gold-medal-winning U.S. men’s hockey team is also expected to attend the speech, White House officials said.
  • More than a dozen House Democrats have said they’ve invited as their guests the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein.
  • Additionally, more than two dozen congressional Democrats say they’re boycotting the State of the Union altogether and focusing on counter-programming events around Washington.
