PDP lawmaker defects to APC in Gombe – Tribune Online

Hon. Yakubu Daniel, Member representing Billiri-East Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly, under the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The development is a demonstration of Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s further strengthening the political dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State.

Yakubu Daniel, who until his defection remained the sole PDP lawmaker in the Assembly, formally joined the APC in a political development that effectively leaves the opposition without representation in the state legislature. +

His move followed an earlier wave of defections involving other opposition lawmakers, including the Minority leadership, who had already joined the APC.

While receiving the lawmaker into the APC fold, recently in Gombe, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the development as a strong vote of confidence in the leadership, vision and inclusive governance style of the ruling party both in Gombe State and at the national level.

The Governor assured the new entrant of fairness, inclusiveness and equal opportunity in the APC, emphasising that the party remains a broad-based political platform committed to unity, development, justice and good governance.

He noted that the APC’s growing dominance across all constituencies in the state is a reflection of the deepening trust and overwhelming support of the people for his administration’s policies, programmes and development strides, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In his remarks, Hon. Yakubu Daniel said that his decision to join the APC was informed by the people-oriented leadership style of Governor Inuwa Yahaya, which he said is anchored on transparency, accountability, fairness and impactful service delivery across all constituencies in the state.

He pledged his unalloyed loyalty to the APC and expressed readiness to work for the continued success and expansion of the party in Billiri East Constituency and across Gombe State.

The lawmaker was accompanied to the governor’s office by the speaker and other members of the House.
