Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed reported efforts by opposition parties to block President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from securing a second term, describing the move as ineffective.
Speaking at a reception in Kano, Yusuf said the alleged coalition “has died on arrival,” attributing the development to what he described as the administration’s progress in repositioning the country over the past two years.
The governor expressed confidence in the electoral strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he described as the dominant political force in both Kano State and the country.
He noted that party officials had recently participated in key engagements, including zonal congresses and the national convention held in Abuja.

Yusuf commended party members in Kano for what he termed successful outcomes from the exercises and appreciated supporters, security agencies, and journalists for their roles in recent political activities.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering democratic dividends across sectors such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, and employment.
The governor also praised Tinubu for efforts to improve the economy and expand infrastructure despite limited resources, pledging the support of APC members in Kano State for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
He urged party supporters to remain united and to participate in the electoral process by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission ahead of the next general elections.
Yusuf further acknowledged the contributions of security agencies and the media in maintaining order and ensuring public awareness during the event, while calling for continued cooperation from residents.
The governor received a large welcome from supporters on his return to Kano, with crowds gathering from as early as 11 a.m. along major routes.
