Michelle Pfeiffer is getting in touch with nature after suffering a personal tragedy in the new trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming drama, The Madison.
The clip, which was released Tuesday, sees Pfeiffer’s character Stacy Clyburn and her family trade in New York City living for a remote property in Montana’s Madison River Valley.
“Mine is not a family designed to withstand tragedy,” Stacy says. Her husband, played by Kurt Russell, adds, “The worry is what you do next.”

And, as the trailer reveals, healing isn’t always linear. At one point, Beau Garrett and Elle Chapman’s characters can be seen engaged in a full-out brawl in one of the cabins, before Pfeiffer intervenes and tosses a glass of water over them both.
“I know you are hurting!” Garrett stresses to Pfeiffer in a subsequent scene. “We are all hurting!”
But, just as in life, there are also moments of beauty and hilarity, too. At one point, Chapman can be seen sprinting out of an outhouse and running directly into the cabin. A follow-up scene depicts her in the shower nervously asking Pfeiffer, “Is it bad?”
When all Pfeiffer can do is laugh in response, Chapman fires back, “It’s not funny!”

In another scene, Pfeiffer can be seen asking Alaina Pollack if she wants to go fishing with her. When the little girl admits she doesn’t know how, the matriarch of the family replies, “Neither do I, but men do it drunk, so how hard can it be?”
And, as it turns out, they’re both pretty good at it. “We got a fish!” The pair cheer as they excitedly jump up and down together near a winding river.
Joining the Clyburns as they reconnect with nature and one another are Patrick J. Adams, Matthew Fox, Amiah Miller, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence, and more.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Russell described The Madison as a “very female-gaze-oriented show” and praised Sheridan’s writing of the series.
“It’s a smart show,” he said at the time. “He’s a really good writer — Taylor’s excellent, and Michelle’s great, and she’s really great in this show. Talking about awards — I think they’re going to be looking Michelle’s way.”
He also praised the rest of his castmates, too. “They’re all really good, but it is [Sheridan’s] writing that is so compelling,” he says. “And I think that it’s a very different show for Taylor in that it’s a very female-gaze-oriented show. And I think it’s extremely well written, it was fun to play. It was really fun to do. I just had a good time.”
The first three episodes of The Madison will premiere on March 14 on Paramount+, with the second half slated to be released on March 21. Watch the trailer above.
