I Lost Interest In Life After My Son Died – Ogun Governor’s Wife

Bamidele Abiodun, wife of the Ogun State governor, has shared details about the painful moments in her life, explaining how she struggled after losing her mother and later her son.

Naija News reports that she spoke during an interview on The Morayo Show, where she talked about how the losses affected her deeply and changed her outlook on life.

According to the first lady, her experience with grief started years before her son’s death when her mother passed away suddenly at the age of 61.  The loss came as a shock and left her in emotional distress, making it hard for her to understand how to continue living without her.

At the time, she believed she might never recover from the pain. However, as time went on, she began to see that period as something that helped prepare her for another tragedy that would come later.

In 2017, she lost her son, Gbenga, a moment she described as the most painful experience of her life.

The loss affected her so deeply that she lost interest in life and struggled to find any reason to move forward. She explained that she felt empty and disconnected, with no desire to continue living for herself. The grief was heavier than anything she had ever experienced before.

She said: “When we lost my son Gbenga in 2017, I did not think I could live again, I was not interested in life at that time, losing my mother at 61 was a big shock to me, I felt like I could not move on after her death, looking back now I see that it prepared me for what was ahead, the pain of losing my son was far greater than anything I had experienced, I felt empty and disconnected from life, it was my children that gave me the reason to keep going.”
