SPECIAL inter-religious prayer sessions were on Thursday held by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, for the peaceful conduct of the 2027 general elections.
The Chief Imam of Osi, who is also the Chairman, League of Imams and Ulamas for Ekiti Local Government Area, Alhaji Saadudeen Ajisefinni, and the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for the area, Pastor Kenneth Adegoke, led the prayers in succession.
The clerics also offered prayers for the actualisation of the political aspirations of both President Bola Tinubu and the state governorship aspirant, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa (BOB), ahead of the 2027 polls.
The event, organised by APC stakeholders and elders in the Ekiti Local Government Area, also featured prayers by both Christian and Muslim clerics for an end to the prevailing security challenges in the area.
They prayed against banditry and other forms of criminality, calling on God to enable political office holders to provide good governance as they prepare to assume different positions.

The gathering, attended by eight former local government chairmen, APC stakeholders, elders and supporters, was also used to endorse the governorship aspiration of Hon Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking with journalists, an APC stakeholder in the area and aspirant for the House of Representatives seat for the Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency, Chief Omogbenle Adeyemi, commended the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration for its impactful development initiatives.
Chief Adeyemi expressed confidence that Governor Abdulrazaq would support the emergence of Hon. Bolarinwa as governor in 2027, “just as the governorship aspirant helped produce Governor Abdulrazaq while he was chairman of the party in the state in 2019.”
The APC chieftain, who described Bolarinwa as the party’s preferred choice for the 2027 governorship election, added that stakeholders would ultimately rally round the party’s candidate.
Also speaking, a former chairman of the local government, Hon. Yinka Dallas, said prayers are essential to enthroning good governance in the state.
“We have seen the way and we do not want to deviate from it. It is prayer before anything and prayer after all things. That is why we have endorsed, declared and backed it up with prayers for Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa to be the next governor of the state and for the re-election of President Tinubu,” he said.
The former council boss called for greater commitment and dedication from political office holders, noting that leadership goes beyond the assumption of office and must translate into impactful governance.
“At this crucial time in Kwara State, we need a committed and dedicated leader like BOB to take over the mantle of leadership after Governor Abdulrazaq, who has done well,” he added.
