Iran has warned that it could target a planned artificial intelligence centre in Abu Dhabi after an airstrike struck Sharif University of Technology in Tehran on Monday morning.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the strike damaged the university’s computing centre and GPU facility, which support Iran’s artificial intelligence programmes.
Tasnim, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said the US-backed “Stargate” AI centre in Abu Dhabi is within the range of Iranian missiles.

The project is being developed with OpenAI, Oracle and Nvidia.
“Iran has identified this as a strategic target and considers itself entitled to respond reciprocally under its legal rights,” the news agency said.
The latest warning followed comments by Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, who said Iran would respond if further attacks were carried out on its infrastructure.
The commander warned that the “gates of hell will be opened upon you” if attacks continue.
