The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that two persons were killed and 10 others injured in a lone vehicle crash along the Gombe-Yola Road on Friday evening.

The Sector Commander of FRSC in Gombe, Mr. Samson Kaura, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the accident occurred around 7:40 p.m. in the Gona community and was caused by a tyre burst.

“The crash left 10 persons sustaining varying degrees of injuries, including head injuries, bruises, and body cuts,” Kaura said. The injured victims were immediately taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention. The remains of the deceased were also deposited at the hospital mortuary.

Kaura warned motorists against overloading and speeding, stressing the importance of prioritising safety over profit or haste.

“Preliminary investigation showed that the crash was caused by a tyre burst, possibly linked to dangerous driving, overloading, or excessive speed. Motorists must prioritise their safety because their families are waiting for them, just like the passengers,” he said.
