United States First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday blasted the claims of her purported closeness with child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement read at the Cross Hall of the White House, she demanded an immediate end to the “lies” connecting her with “the disgraceful Epstein.”
The First Lady declared that she was never friends with him, accusing those circulating the assertion of attempts to defame her reputation.
Melania also insisted she never had a relationship with Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, adding that her email response then was a “casual correspondence.”
She clarified that Epstein did not introduce her to President Donald Trump, recalling meeting her husband “by chance” at a New York City party in 1998.
Melania said she first met Epstein in 2000 at an event attended alongside her spouse, and had no prior knowledge of the deceased nor his “criminal undertakings.”
The President’s wife advised the public to be cautious about remarks and images linking her to Epstein, maintaining she was never on his plane and never visited his private island.
Melania urged Congress to provide the women who have been victimized by Epstein with a public hearing, specifically centered around the survivors.
The First Lady wants all victims willing to share their experience to be allowed to testify under oath, while the accounts are “permanently entered into the Congressional record.”
The Epstein files have led to resignations and arrests worldwide, including in Britain, where the police questioned Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Peter Mandelson, ex-UK ambassador to the U.S.
