Kehinde Adegbodu: How robbers attacked my home looking for me, my late brother’s valuables

Kehinde Adegbodu, the surviving member of the gospel duo Adegbodu Twins, has revealed that armed robbers visited his home on Monday evening.

In a video shared on social media, Adegbodu said he was not at home during the robbery. He explained that the attack took place at the family compound where both his household and the family of Taiwo, his late twin brother, live together.

The singer, who was away in Osun state when the incident occurred, said the armed men arrived shortly after 9 p.m. and immediately demanded to see him.

According to him, they also insisted on searching Taiwo’s room for valuables. He said when the robbers realised he was not present, they became frustrated and allegedly called their boss to report his absence.

Kehinde recounted that Taiwo’s wife called him in a panic to inform him about the robbery.

“An issue happened two nights ago. Because I was not at home. I travelled to Osun state. Around past 9 in the evening. So, I received a call from Taiwo’s wife, and I noticed her voice was panicking,” she said.

“She said four armed robbers brought guns to the house, came to the house, and were immediately asking, ‘Where is Kehinde? Where is Taiwo’s room? Where are their golds? Where is Taiwo’s phone? Where is the car key? We are here because of Kehinde. We want to see him. Where is his room?

“The robbers took all my clothes, valuables and cash. I thank God that they did not harm anyone. I am saying this because one of the robbers called their boss on the phone, and I wasn’t present. And that they met only children and wives who they believed did not have money with them.

“I am speaking out because of protection over my children and Taiwo’s children.”

Kehinde said he suspects the attack was motivated by rumours about donations raised for Taiwo’s burial. He said he believes the robbers assumed the funds were still in his possession.

“I think the robbers thought that the money Yinka Ayefele raised for us was still with me. These robbers did not even care that we are mourning. They spent over 45mins at our house. By the time I got through to the securities, they had already gone,” he added.

“I will share the receipts on how we expended the donations we received from the people. The money raised for us was used to develop our building project so we could bury Taiwo there.

“Please do not come and harm our children. They are innocent. We are not usually at home.

“I am always on the road. I do not have money, and I do not live a fake life. Even the car we are using was a gift. Since the incident, our kids have been living in fear, they are scared to sleep in the house.”

Taiwo Adegbodu died in March, although the cause of death was not disclosed. Days after his death, Kehinde revealed that on the night of his death, his brother complained about a sharp pain in his chest.
