Muhammad Zuru, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has died while undergoing treatment in Cairo, Egypt, the state government confirmed on Tuesday.

Zuru, widely known as Lifiddan Zuru, passed away on Monday evening. He represented the Zuru constituency and was a prominent figure within the Zuru Emirate.

In a statement issued on behalf of the House of Assembly, Governor Murtala Diri described Zuru’s death as a “significant loss to his constituents, the state’s legislative body, the political community, and the country at large.” Details regarding his burial will be announced by his family and the Kebbi state government.

Kabir Tukura, a federal lawmaker representing Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Danko-Wasagu, described Zuru as an “epitome of kindness, generosity, and humility,” adding that his passing is a loss not only to his family but also to the people of Kebbi, particularly the Zurians, whose interests he served with dedication.

Tukura, who chairs the House Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, condoled with Zuru’s family and the people of Kebbi, describing him as an “obedient son of his soil.”
