Kaura Polytechnic alumni suspend publicity secretary – Tribune Online

The Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda Alumni Association has suspended its National Publicity Secretary over misconduct deemed detrimental to the image of the Polytechnic, its management, and the association.

The alumni also adopted the association’s constitution as its first official working document, thereby providing a legal framework for its activities.

This was contained in a communiqué signed by Abdulrazak Bello Kaura, National President, and Rimamyang Amos Ibang, National Secretary, issued at the end of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Ahmadu Asha Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Site, Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State.

The meeting, which was well attended by members of the association, deliberated extensively on matters affecting the association and the institution and reached resolutions that included:

“The AGM unanimously adopted the Association’s Constitution as its first official working document, and approved a four (4) year tenure for elected executives as stipulated in the newly adopted Constitution.

“It was further resolved that the current National Executive Committee, which has already served two (2) years, should complete the remaining two (2) years to make up the four-year tenure.

“The National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Obalola Ebenezer Olufemi, was suspended for one (1) year over misconduct deemed detrimental to the image of the Polytechnic, its management, and the Alumni Association.

“The Alumni approved the dissolution of the existing Board of Trustees and the constitution of a new Board of Trustees to reposition the association for effective governance and stability.

“Members were urged to conduct themselves responsibly and uphold the integrity of the association and the Polytechnic, and that the Alumni Association is not a pressure group; members should avoid actions that could tarnish its image.

“The AGM was informed that the lingering HND/BSc dichotomy issue has been approved by the National Assembly and is currently awaiting presidential assent. Hence, it called on the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to expedite action and assent to it for national development.”
