Nigerian singer Charles Chukwu, popularly known as Crayon, has shared details about a difficult period in his life when he battled mental health issues and stepped away from music.
Naija News reports that he made this known on Friday, during a live conversation with streamer Carter Efe, where he spoke about the challenges he faced in 2022 and how he managed to recover.
According to him, the situation came from pressure on different sides, including expectations from his family and demands within the music industry.
He said the stress took a toll on his well-being and led to a serious health condition that required medical attention and a long period of therapy.
He explained that he was admitted for treatment and spent time focusing on his recovery before returning to his music career.
After getting better, he resumed work and released songs, including Labalaba and Overloading, marking his comeback.
The singer said the experience changed him and helped him regain stability before continuing his journey in the industry.
He said: βIn 2022, I had mental health issues from all sort of stress; family, industry, trying to be number one stress. I was hospitalised for a long therapy session, then I came out and dropped Labalaba and Overloading.β
