REDLANDS, Calif. (KABC) — Gunfire erupted after a person involved in a fight got into a car and plowed into a crowd of people standing on the street outside a Redlands bar, authorities said.
Witnesses reported the altercation between several people in front of the Underground bar at 19 E. Citrus Ave., just east of Orange Street, shortly before 1:30 a.m., the Redlands Police Department said in a news release.
After the fight, one of the participants drove away in a 2022 Tesla, headed west on Citrus Avenue, authorities said. Minutes later, the vehicle sped back east on Citrus, hitting four people who were standing in the roadway.
“The impact caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and collide with the curb,” the police statement said. “At the same time, an unknown suspect fired several shots, striking the window of one business and the door of another.”
The violent collision was captured on video by at least one bystander, whose footage also recorded the sound of gunfire after the crash.
No one was reported injured in the shooting. Four victims of the hit-and-run crash were transported to a hospital with major injuries, authorities said.
The driver in the Tesla fled west on Citrus, leaving a trail of leaked fluids, investigators said.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact Redlands police Detective Thomas Williams at (909) 557-6814 or by email at twilliams@redlandspolice.org.
