EFCC dismisses viral poster declaring Sabinus wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed claims that Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, the skit maker known as Sabinus, was declared wanted by the agency.

The commission shared a photo of a wanted poster alleging that the skit maker is wanted for obtaining money by false pretence.

“The public is hereby notified that Emmanuel Chukuwuemeka Ejekwu who appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretense,” the poster reads.

However, the anti-graft agency dismissed the poster as “false,” branding its creators “clout chasers” and warning them to stop spreading misleading content for attention.

“Clout chaser, Stop this now!” read the caption of the EFCC’s Facebook post.

Reacting to the report via Instastory, Sabinus laughed off the attempt to implicate him, noting that the EFCC had cleared his name.

“Una wan use EFCC enter me but EFCC say Sabinus is a good boy,” he wrote in pidgin English.

Sabinus started online comedy in 2015 but began to enjoy mainstream success in 2019.

He has featured in a number of Nollywood films, including ‘Billionaire’s Bride’ and ‘Man of War’.

At the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), he was named ‘Best Online Content Creator’.
