Yusuf Buhari, son of the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has declared his intention to contest a House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections, reports confirmed.
The announcement was made public through a letter dated April 3, 2026, in which Yusuf informed stakeholders of his decision to run for the federal legislative seat representing the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I am extremely delighted to inform you of my intention to contest for this position, as I aim to contribute to good leadership and bring development to our people,” the letter read.
The development was confirmed by Bashir Ahmad, former Special Assistant on Digital Communications to President Buhari, in a post on his X page, noting that the decision followed extensive consultations with stakeholders.
“Following wide consultations, Yusuf Buhari, the son of our late boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, has informed stakeholders of his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for the Sandamu/Daura/Mai’Adua constituency under the All Progressives Congress,” he wrote.
Since his father left office, Yusuf Buhari has maintained a low public profile, making this declaration his most prominent political move to date.
