Before the 2026 NFL Draft in April, some players need another chance to show they are worthy of hearing their name called. The best place for players to show their speed, strength and qualities is the NFL Scouting Combine. 

There were 319 players that were invited to the combine this year. Texas A&M set a program record with 13 players sent while Texas football had just six Longhorns get the invite. Last year, Texas set a program record with 14 players invited to the combine.

The combine is Feb. 26- March 2 in Indianapolis. The schedule is broken down by position group and players will be interviewed by teams and media; undergo different physical and mental exams; have their official draft day measurements taken and, maybe most importantly workout for scouts, fans and general mangers. Kickers, defensive linemen and linebackers arrive Sunday before five days of activities; Monday will be tight ends and defensive backs arrivals; day three quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs; offensive linemen arrive Wednesday and will be the last to leave March 2.

When do quarterbacks throw at NFL combine?

Quarterback workouts are part Saturday’s activities. At that time, those players, along with running backs and wideouts, will also be measured.

NFL Scouting Combine: When do players run the 40-yard dash?

Perhaps the headlining event is the 40-yard dash runs, meant to capture an athlete’s speed. It’s part of the on-field workouts, which are scheduled for Thursday for the first group; Friday for the second group, which included cornerbacks and tight ends; Saturday for the QBs, WRs and RBs and Sunday for the offensive linemen.

Monday combine schedule

Kickers, defensive linemen and linebackers will begin with a pre-exam, team interviews and more; defensive backs and tight ends arrive.

Tuesday combine schedule

Tight ends and defensive backs will show will have a pre-exam, team interviews and more. 

The participants from the previous day will have another exam and more interviews. Running backs, quarterbacks and wide receivers head in for registration and orientation.

Wednesday combine schedule

A kicking workout will take place, along with NFL Players Association meetings, an “ortho exam” and media, plus team, interviews for the first group of players. DBs and TEs move on to a general medical exam and team interviews. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and running backs will have a pre-exam, NFLPA meeting and team interviews.

The final arrivals of the events, the offensive linemen, begin their orientation and team interviews as well.  

Thursday combine schedule

Kickers, DLs and LBs hit the field for workouts and measurements. DBs and TEs have a full day that includes an NFLPA meeting, interviews and  the ortho exam. The group that includes QBs and RBs will have general medical exams, among other events. Offensive linemen will have their first exams and NFLPA meeting as well.

Friday combine schedule

The first group wraps up with a bench press and the second group (tight ends and defensive backs) move onto the on-field workouts and measurements. The other two groups have various exams and interviews to get through.

Saturday combine schedule

TEs and DBs bench press before departing from Indianapolis. QBs, RBs and WRs, the third group to arrive to town, have their on-field measurements and workouts and offensive lineman go through a final round of interviews and exams.

Sunday combine schedule

The third group bench presses before leaving and the OLs have workouts and measurements completed ahead of Monday, when they bench press and head home before the draft.
