Former Prince Andrew looks terrified as he leaves jail in first photos since arrest

Former Prince Andrew looked horrified as he left jail Thursday evening following his arrest.

The disgraced royal — who turned 66 on Thursday — was pictured with a shocked expression as he attempted to hide in the backseat of a car driving out of Aylsham Police Station in the United Kingdom.

A male driver and an unidentified man accompanied him.

Earlier in the day, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office while working as a British trade envoy.

He was accused of allegedly sharing confidential trade documents with the late convicted rapist and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

If convicted, the former Duke of York could face life in prison.

Officers arrived and surrounded Andrew’s home, the Sandringham Estate, in eastern England, at around 8 a.m. local time.

One investigator was photographed with a police-issued laptop.

Authorities arrived in unmarked vehicles, and two of the cars left about 30 minutes later with Andrew’s security team following shortly behind.

Additionally, a search was carried out at the property and Andrew’s former Berkshire home, Royal Lodge.

“Following a thorough assessment, we have now opened an investigation into this allegation of misconduct in public office,” Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright wrote in a statement.

“It is important that we protect the integrity and objectivity of our investigation as we work with our partners to investigate this alleged offence. We understand the significant public interest in this case, and we will provide updates at the appropriate time.”

King Charles shared his “deepest concern” regarding the allegations against his younger brother.

“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities,” the 77-year-old monarch wrote in a statement.

“In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

Andrew served as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment from 2001 to 2011.

The Epstein files, which were recently released, alleged that Andrew sent the late convict reports regarding 2010 trips to Vietnam and Singapore.

According to the Official Secrets Act, trade envoys are required to keep trip details confidential, even when they retire from their roles.

Additionally, authorities are investigating allegations that Epstein trafficked a woman to the UK for Andrew to have sexual relations with.

Andrew previously denied wrongdoing against him, though his relationship with Epstein has been long known.

In the newly released files, Andrew was also photographed hovering over a woman with his hand on her stomach.

Andrew was stripped of his royal titles last year amid damaging claims that he worked with Epstein as the latter’s client.

However, he has previously denied allegations against him.

At the time, he was forced to leave his Royal Lodge estate.

Andrew was first investigated after Epstein’s late victim Virginia Giuffre alleged that she was forced to have intercourse with him several times, beginning when she was 17 years old.

He reportedly gave millions to Giuffre, who died in April 2025, in a settlement despite denying the accusations against him.
