Ondo group condemns Nasarawa attack, calls for urgent action on security – Tribune Online


A prominent socio-political group in Ondo State has condemned the recent attack in Nasarawa State, describing it as a reprehensible act of violence and calling for immediate government intervention.

The group, Ondo State Eminent Personalities Group, in a statement issued and signed by its Chairman, Banji Alabi, expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims, noting that the tragic incident underscores the urgent need to strengthen security across the country.

The group urged security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure that such incidents do not recur.

The group also extended solidarity to the government and people of Nasarawa State, assuring them of its support and prayers during what it described as a difficult and painful period.

The Ondo-based group further called on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, state governors, members of the National Assembly, and other critical stakeholders to prioritise the protection of lives and property.

While condemning the incident, Alabi said that the group “strongly condemn this reprehensible act of violence and call on the relevant security agencies to take swift, decisive, and sustained action to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent a recurrence.”

The group also extended solidarity to the government and people of Nasarawa State, assuring them of its support during what it described as a painful moment.

“We stand in solidarity with the government and people of Nasarawa State and assure them of our unwavering support and prayers as they navigate this painful period.

“There can be no meaningful development without security. We urge the President, governors, lawmakers, and all stakeholders in the Nigerian project to place the safety of Nigerians at the forefront of governance,” Alabi stated.

He stressed the need for urgent and coordinated action, saying, “The government must, as a matter of urgency, deploy all necessary resources and strategies to ensure the protection of all Nigerians, regardless of location.”

The group reiterated that safeguarding citizens must remain the foremost responsibility of government at all levels.
