Everest Nevraumont, a student at Alpha School, was invited as an advocate for AI in education aafter using technology-driven study tools to excel in competitive history events. She earned a top finish for a girl her age at the National History Bee and went on to win a world title at the International History Olympiad in 2025.
Nevraumont attends Alpha School, a private Austin campus that uses artificial intelligence to tailor instruction. During a visit to the school in September 2025, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon met Nevraumont and heard about her academic progress, which included advancing several grade levels in reading within a year.
She has also spoken publicly about her experience using AI to support her education, delivering two TEDx talks and appearing on national television.
Alpha School’s Austin campus is a private Pre K-8 program built around what it calls a mastery-based model, where students move ahead once they’ve proven they’ve learned the material. The school markets a schedule that compresses core academics into roughly two hours in the morning using adaptive, AI-driven learning software, then shifts the rest of the day toward hands-on workshops and “life skills” programming.
In Austin, Alpha operates a lower-school campus near Barton Hills (1201 Spyglass Drive) and a middle-school location downtown (201 Colorado St.), with listed tuition of $40,000. The school says it is accredited by Cognia.
In her visit to Austin, McMahon toured Alpha School and joined a roundtable discussion with school leaders focused on AI and education innovation.
