Man accused in North Austin 7-Eleven killing arrested in California


Caleb Jenkins was taken into custody Jan. 26 in Sacramento and charged with murder in connection with the killing of Quinton Arnold, according to the Austin Police Department. Authorities said Jenkins was extradited to the Travis County Jail on Feb. 18. According to jail records, Jenkins is charged with first-degree murder, assault causing bodily injury to a family member and an out-of-county felony hold.

The case began early Oct. 12, 2025, when officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 1800 block of Rutland Drive. Police said they arrived around 3 a.m. and found Arnold, 37, shot in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven at 1822 Rutland Drive. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Investigators previously said witnesses reported Arnold was standing outside the store near his vehicle when a car pulled up. Someone inside the vehicle opened fire before driving away.

Jenkins bond total is set as $162,000, and all charges remain pending.
